Artists and Writers

Many Polish-Jewish writers, actors, artists, poets and musicians always maintained close ties with the land of their birth. These biographies consider their contributions made to both Jewish and Polish culture.

"That world is no more," an oft-repeated phrase. These artists demonstrate the spiritual wealth and potential of that world that disappeared--a victim of the German killing machine.
The individuals featured in these biographical sketches left Poland before the war, during the war and after the war, or as the result of the anti-Semitic campaign of 1968. Also included are the biographies of those who decided to stay in Poland. (pc)
