Anielewicz Center
The Mordechaj Anielewicz Center for the Research and Teaching of the History and Culture and Jews in Poland was founded in 1990 on the basis of an agreement between the University of Warsaw and the Jack Fliderbaum Foundation. It currently operates as a department within the Institute of History at the University of Warsaw.
The driving force behind the Anielewicz Center was Professor Jerzy Tomaszewski, who was its director until his retirement in 2001. His successor is Dr. Jolanta Zyndul.
The Center runs classes for history students as well as those from other departments who are interested in the history and culture of the Polish Jews. In 2001, a "thematic block" titled "The History of the Polish Jews" was established, which is one of the specializations offered by the Institute for upperclassmen. In addition, field trips are organized for students interested in the history and culture of the Jews in Poland.
Scholarly seminars for historians and researchers from other fields interested in the history of Polish Jews are also offered periodically.

On May 8, 2003, the Center organized the First Jewish Day at the University of Warsaw, an event whose aim was to raise awareness of Jewish history and culture.
The Center's staff includes Professor Jerzy Tomaszewski, Dr. Anna Michalowska, Dr. Jolanta Zyndul (director) and Regina Garwacka (Gromacka). The Center's doctoral students are Jakub Petelewicz, Kim Soon-Hyung and August Grabski (from the Jewish Historical Institute). The following individuals cooperate with the Center on a permanent or part-time basis: Dr. Andrzej Chojnowski (University of Warsaw), Dr. Barbara Engelking-Boni, Dr. Ewa Geller, Dr. Jürgen Heyde and Dr. Jerzy Malinowski.
In 2001, thanks to the efforts of Professor Antoni Kruszewski and Isaac Kotkowski, the Irena Grabowska Kruszewska and Enta Marmelstein Kotkowska Fund was established at the Center to support publications by young historians and students.
