Tslil - Jewish choir
Tslil Jewish Choir was founded in Lodz in March 2003. One month later, its Warsaw branch also began rehearsals. Today there are about thirty of us, and we perform independently and in cultural and artistic events. Though our age and background vary, we are united in the pleasure we get from singing together, and from bringing the Jewish musical heritage to life. We also believe that our performances break barriers between cultures. Our repertoire includes songs and refrains in Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino (the latter two the languages of Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jewry respectively).

The Conductor: Agnieszka Najmalowska - trained music conductor, graduate of the University of Music in Lodz - is the founder and director of Tslil Jewish Choir. Tslil (which in Hebrew means "sound" or "tone") is her own contribution to Poland's Jewish musical renaissance. The creation of the choir was inspired by a visit to Israel in 2002; on her return to Poland, Agnieszka wanted to learn more about her Jewish roots and made contact with the local Jewish community. This in turn led to the birth of the choir in March of 2003. In a way, this journey is undertaken by each member of Tslil - a journey through one's cultural heritage, in which discovery is expressed as song.
