Polish Council of Christians and Jews

The Polish Council of Christians and Jews is a member of the International Council of Christians and Jews (ICCJ).
The aim of the council is to facilitate mutual understanding of Christians and Jews, overcome stereotypes, promote tolerance and deepen inter-religious contacts.

Some of the council's initiatives have been:
- cooperating in the preparation of a yearly Judaism Day in the Catholic Church. In 2002, the main celebration took place in Lublin on January 17.
- organizing a yearly prayer meeting along the memorial path of the Warsaw Ghetto on the anniversary of the start of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
- organizing a yearly common prayer on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah ("Rejoicing in the Law"). The prayer takes place in the Church of the Infant Jesus in Warsaw at ul. Czarnieckiego 15.
- awarding the title "Person of Reconciliation" every year to individuals who have worked for Christian-Jewish reconciliation.
- publishing Kosciol katolicki o swoich korzeniach (The Catholic Church About Its Roots, 1998). The publication is aimed primarily at students of catechism classes, secondary school students and all those interested in Christian-Jewish dialogue. It came about as an answer to the need for openness to the Jewish heritage and to the Jewish religious experience.
